The picture below shows a larger front and back view of this Old Brass Yale & Towne Manufacturing Company Spring Key. The key is not dated and the year that it was made is unknown. We have been told that these keys were used at Post Offices, but we do not know what they were used for. The key has a section that moves with a wire spring and there is a hook. It is marked on the two sides as follows:

YALE
MADE IN U.S.A.
YALE & TOWNE MFG. CO.

The key measures about 1-13/16'' long. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured.
