The pictures below show larger views of this Soldiers of the 509th Parachute Infantry African 3rd Zouave Regiment Badge. This badge pin is made of a silver colored metal. It is not dated and the year that it was made is unknown. There are two pins on the back. The pin back sections are not shown but they are included.

3rd Zouave Regiment Badge
''The silver device features a snarling hyena surmounting a crescent that bears the motto ''J'y Suis, J'y Reste'' ''Here I am, Here I Remain" Badge was approved for permanent wear by Soldiers of the 509th Parachute Infantry directed Headquarters, North African Theater of Operations.  This was the first foreign badge awarded to U.S. troops in WWII.''

It is marked on the two sides as follows:

The pin or badge measures about 1-7/16'' wide. It appears to be in excellent condition with some light wear as pictured.
