The picture shows a view of this Early Wooden Circus Acrobat Character Novelty Toy With Extra Figure. The toy has an an 1876 and 1881 patent dates and it is believed to be from the 1880s. It is made of wood and string and has imprinted paper applied to the figure. The figure that is on the toy has two different images on the sides. The one that is extra has a faint image in red on one side. The figures are marked on their chest as follows:

PAT. APRIL 5, 1881
PAT. MAY 24, 1881

There is also an imprinted paper on on the base, by the feet, on the toy that is faint, but pictures a black faced man playing with the acrobat toy. It appears to read as follows:

SMIES TOY
AM DE BOSS
PAT. JANUARY 4, 1876

To judge the sizes the entire toy measures about 7-7/8'' tall. It is in working order and appears to be in excellent or better condition as pictured.
