The pictures show the (2) Boxed 1913 Confectionery Salesman Enameled Badges and a closer view of the two badges. These two boxed badges were purchased along with other personal items of Henry Eckstein Sr.. He was the third partner of Reliable Confections also known as Rueckheim Bros. & Eckstein.

By the 1920s the company had manufactured over 750 candy and confection products including Cracker Jack, Checkers Popcorn Confection, Chums, Angelus, Campfire, and Recipe Marshmallows, along with a whole line of other confections and many different chocolate products. After 1922 the company went on to be known as The Cracker Jack Company.

Henry Eckstein, Sr. was the Treasurer as well as working to develop packaging for the company. These were his convention badges when the 1913 convention was attended in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The Chicago based company most likely had a display and sales booth there.

The box cover has fancy print and reads as follows:

GREETINGS TO
National Confectionery
Salesmen's Association
FROM
Confectionery Salesmen's
Club of Phila.
Atlantic City
July 8 - 9 - 1913

Inside the box there are two nicely enameled metal badges. One has a white ribbon with gold print. The other has no ribbon. The badges have a candy box with ribbon in the center as well as two American flags and an eagle at the top. They read as follows:

THE NATIONAL CONFECTIONERY
SALESMEN'S ASS'N OF AMERICA
N.C.S.A.

The ribbon reads:

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.
JULY 8 - 9, 1913

The badge with the ribbon is mounted on an advertising card. The back is printed explaining why quality convention badges should be created and purchased. The front of the card reads as follows:

The Whitehead & Hoag Co.
Newark, N.J.
Enamel, Metal And Ribbon Badges
Advertising Novelties, Buttons, Gold And Enamel Emblems
Leather Goods

To judge the sizes the metal badge sections measure 1-3/8" tall. The badges appear to be in mint condition. The box has some spotting as pictured.
