| The picture below shows a larger view of the (2) Old Metal Barrel Animal Collar or Key Chain Compartment Charms in this lot. These charms are not dated but they are old. They are not marked and the maker is unknown. They are made of a silver colored metal. These are believed to be for a dog (or other animal) collar. To be mounted with their dog tags. There is an inset flat head screw on the side of each. The right one is empty, but the left one has a tiny unused coiled paper inside with a place to write a name, address, city, state, telephone number, and reward. If an animal is found it could be easily identified and returned with this charm, much like the way electronic chips are used today. They may have been made for animals, but they could be used for people as well. They could be used on a chain, keychain, or keyring to identify them. Another use would be for some important medicine to have handy for an emergency. Both of these for one price! The metal barrel charms each measure 9/16'' wide. They appear to be in excellent condition. One has a silver finish and the other does not as pictured. The hooks have not been bent. |
