The picture shows a a front and back view of this Early Ambrotype or Daguerreotype Child Photograph In Case. The photograph is in a framed side of a covered wooden case. The other half of the case is missing. There is a metal closure hook on one side. It is not dated but it is believed to be from the mid 1800s. It came out of an old Victorian New Hampshire home, but the child's name is unknown. We are not experts on early photography processes, but this appears to be an Ambrotype or Daguerreotype photograph. Please judge by the pictures below. The case does not have the photographer's name or any other markings. The photo is either on glass or tin, we can not tell without opening it. The clear photograph is of a young girl in a dress. There is a gold or gold colored metal frame and mat. The case covering has geometric shapes and scroll designs. To judge the sizes the entire case measures 2-7/16'' x 2-15/16'' x 5/16''. It appears to be in excellent or better condition as pictured. The stand in the pictures below is not included.
