The picture shows a view of the 1967 Nuclear Fallout Protection For Homes With Basements Civil Defense Booklet & Letter in this lot. The booklet was from the United States Department of Defense - Office of Civil Defense. It is dated May 1967. It has (26) pages filled with illustrations, ideas, and preparations that could be made in case of nuclear fallout from war. It encourages you to mail in the fold out post card in the back for detailed plans on how to modify your basement for such an event. In the front is a picture of U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson with an excerpt from his message to Congress concerning fallout shelter protection.

The letter included here is from Ross Eckler - Director - The U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census, of Washington, D.C.. It is a thank you for participating in a Home Fallout Protection Survey. It was found inside the booklet in this lot and is also dated 1967.

To judge the sizes the letter measures 8'' x 10-1/2''. The letter appears to be in mint condition and the booklet has some small spotting and yellowing on the cover as pictured.
