The picture shows a view of this Old Blue Coal Advertising Ink Pen Blotter. The blotter is not dated but believed to be from the 1920s. Blue Coal was a major sponsor of the Radio Show The Shadow between 1932 and 1949. Because of no mention of The Shadow and the candle stick telephone this blotter is believed to be prior to that sponsorship. It is marked as follows:

Always Say 'Blue Coal'
When You Order Fuel
America's Finest Anthracite
Colored Blue For Your Protection
Household Fuel Corp.
51 Main Street
So. Portland (Maine)
Phone: 4-1038
Printed In U.S.A.

The blotter measures 6-1/4'' x 3-1/2''. It is in very good condition. There is edge wear, an ink spot on one corner (mostly on the back) and a few smaller ink spots on the back. There is also a light vertical crease by the phone.
