(2) Unknown Carved Stone Figures
Culture   Cultural   Carving   Stone   Icon
The picture shows a front and back view of the (2) Unknown Carved Stone Figures in this lot. I do not know the culture of origin, date, or use of these two carved stone figures. I have studied Native Cultures but do not recognize these. If I were to make a guess, I would guess that the larger one was from either Africa, Hawaii, or a Polynesian origin, and the smaller one I would guess was from Mexico. In both cases I do not know for sure.

They are both of stylized figures of man or of Gods. The larger one appears to be older and better quality. It is made of a black stone that has a gold glitter appearance shining within. It could have been an amulet at one time. It has been broken (possibly in ritual). This can be seen on the back side. I had acquired this many years ago, but I can not remember where.

The smaller one is of a light green stone. It doesn’t appear to be made as well. It may even be a souvenir type carving, but I do not know. To judge the sizes the larger carving measures 3-1/4" tall. These may or may not require much research.
