The picture shows two views of this Old Painted Celluloid Occupied Japan Novelty Wind Up Toy Scottie Dog Nodder Figurine. It is not dated but it was made in the 1940s shortly after World War II. It may have been used as an old carnival or fair prize, but it could have also been sold in an old five and dime store. It is marked ''MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN'' but the maker is unknown. It is made of a yellow celluloid and is nicely painted in blue, pink, black, and white. The dog is wearing a sweater that ia molded and painted. His head is connected by a string and nods up and down and side to side. There is a metal key on the underside and a mechanism inside. When wound his tail spins around. He measures about 5'' long. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured. There are no breaks or cracks. The wind up mechanism works but there is rusting on the key and where the tail is attached.
