The pictures show a top and bottom view of all (4) Different Small Old Porcelain Butter Pat Plates in this lot. These are not dated but they are old. Most butter pat plates had been used in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Butter pats were usually part of a large china or dinnerware set. They were used at a time when store bought butter did not exist. Butter would be molded and stamped with a design and placed on these small individual serving plates. Between the thousands of designs that were made and their small size they have become an excellent collectible item. They also make a nice size plate for Victorian dolls.

These plates are square. They have different color flowers and leaf designs and three have a gold edge as well. To judge the sizes the largest one measures about 2-13/16'' wide. These appear to be in very good to excellent condition as pictured. The first and third ones have a tiny corner flake. The unmarked one has some double sided tape on the bottom that has been removed since the photo was taken. The tape was only used to keep the plate upright in a display. Three of these are marked on the bottom (in the order pictured) as follows:
