Old Isleboro Inn Advertising Hotel Key
Inn   Advertising   Hotel   Motel   Lock   Key
The picture shows a view of both sides of this Old Isleboro Inn Advertising Hotel Key. The year that this key is from is unknown. It is made of steel and may be plated. It is marked on the two sides as follows:

ISLEBORO INN
226
RUSSELL & ERWIN MFG. CO.
NEW BRITAIN, CONN.

The Inn room key measures 3-1/16'' long. It appears to be in near mint condition as pictured. Below here is some reference information found online that may be some help:

''As for the ''Isleboro Inn,'' I think that there were three or four of that name; however, the REAL ''Islesboro Inn'' was the one which opened 1 July 1890. It burned in 1915 but was rebuilt in 1916 - 1917 and again flourished. It was run as a club during the depression years 1930 - 1933 and was closed during World War II. Reopened after the war, this 80 room inn closed its doors permantly in 1951 and was razed four years later. The present Islesboro Inn was converted from the J. K. Mitchell mansion which was built in 1916. It opened in 1964 as the Colonial Inn then changed its name to the Islesboro Inn. If my memory serves, this was the place purchased by actors Stephenson Parker and his then wife Kirsty Alley and reconverted into a private residence.'' Bob Brooks, Sandy Point, Maine
