| | | | The picture below shows larger front and back views of this Old United States Navy Submarine Metal Letter Opener. This letter opener is not dated, but being in the area, we have had quite a few similar items like this with submarines that were crafted or machined by shipyard workers and U.S. Navy Sailors from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth New Hampshire and Kittery, Maine. Most of the items we have had, including this one are believed to be from the 1940s or the World War II era. There are no markings on it. The handle was machined to be a U.S. Navy Submarine. It is made of a non magnetic silver colored metal that may be nickel. The letter opener measures about 7-13/16'' long. It appears to be in excellent to near mint condition as pictured. |
