The picture shows both sides of this 1928 real photo postcard of the American Giant "HIGH BILL" R.E. MADSEN. I am dating this by the license plate on the nice old Buick in the picture. The license plate reads "1928 CALIFORNIA 832-580" The metal plates on the radiator can be read too! There is a man's head for a hood ornament. At the bottom the postcard reads:

"HIGH BILL"
R.E. MADSEN
AMERICA'S TALLEST GIANT
2/28 PIGGOTT PHOTO S.F.

I am guessing that the last line above states that the photo was taken in February of 1928 in San Francisco by a Photographer named Piggott. Strangely there is no height of the man given. I am sure that there are records for him that would be easy to research. Many Cards like this were given out at the circus, side shows, freak shows, and carnivals.

The card measures 3-3/8" x 5-1/2". Although the postcard was never used it has aged from being pinned up on a wall, I was told on an old circus wagon. There are corner tack holes. The picture is very clear but on close inspection there is very fine age surface cracking over the finish.
