| The picture shows both sides of this Old Bronze or Brass Hanging Religious Icon. The year this was made is unknown, but it is old. The front has two colorful enameled scenes with many people. The back has Jesus Christ on a cross, The Virgin Mary and Baby Jesus, and (6) images of a double headed eagle. These lead me to believe that it is of either Russian, Austrian, Hungarian, or German origin. There is some lettering on the back. It is not engraved. These letters are recessed and were made when this was forged. I can not read one word, but in two places there are the letters or initials "M.B.K.". Not counting the attached bronze chain, the icon or plaque measures 3-1/2" x 6". It appears to be in near mint unpolished as made condition. |
