The picture shows a view of the cover and a sample page from this ©1938 ''Our Friendly Animals and Whence They Came'' Hard Back Book. This book is by Karl Patterson Schmidt of the Field Museum of Natural History and it was Illustrated by Walter Alois Weber. It was published in 1938 by M. A. Donohue & Company of Chicago and New York. There are (76) pages filled with information and single color illustrations throughout and (12) large full page, full color illustrations (like the sample shown). The table of contents reads as follows:

II. The Dog and His Wild Ancestors
III. The Forbears of the Cat
IV. The Origin of Domestic Cattle
V. Sheep and Their Wild Cousins
VI. Tame and Wild Goats
VII. The Ancestry of the Horse
VIII. The Donkey and Other Relatives of the Horse
IX. Domestic Swine and Wild Ones

The titles of the full page color illustrations are as follows:

I. Wolves have a happy family life
II. Jackals on a kitchen midden
III. Dingos chasing kangaroos

This hard back book measures 10'' x 12-1/4''. It is in excellent condition with some normal wear from use.
