The picture below shows a larger view of this Early Novelty Push Up Spinning Tin Toy. This tin toy is not dated but it is believed to be from the early 1900s. It is not marked and the maker is unknown. The toy is made up of a twisted wire rod with a loop at the bottom to hold, a metal tube to push up, two color rings (purple & red), and a purple and red flag at the top. The colors were probably red and blue when it was new. When you push up on the tube the rings spin fast making it look like a spinning ball. The faster you push, the faster they spin. It works well. Children of the past were much more easily entertained and amused. This toy would not meet with any kind of safety standards today. Please do not allow any children to play with it unsupervised. To judge the sizes the center wire rod measures 11-1/4'' tall. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured.
