The picture shows a view of this Old Ornate Joan of Arc Domremy France Advertising Souvenir Jewelry Pin. The pin is not dated but it is old. There are no markings on the back. It appears to be made of copper or a copper alloy. It features the heroine Joan of Arc in armor with her armor head section below, a flag or banner on a pole, a flowering lily plant, and a shield with a sword, french crown, and fleur-de-lis. At the bottom is a banner that is marked ''DOMREMY''. The pin measures about 1-7/16'' x 1''. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured. Below here, for reference is some additional information about Domremy:

DomrŽmy-la-Pucelle is a commune in the Vosges department in Lorraine in northeastern France. The village, originally named DomrŽmy, is the birthplace of Joan of Arc. It has since been renamed DomrŽmy-la-Pucelle after Joan's nickname, la Pucelle d'OrlŽans (''the Maid of OrlŽans'').

Geography

DomrŽmy is positioned along the upper Meuse valley to the north of Coussey. The village land includes a small wooded hill to the west of the houses, which rises to a height of 407 m, known as the DomrŽmy Wood. This overlooks the small adjacent settlement of Les Roises.

History

This village was exempted from taxes in 1429 by Charles VII, the French claimant to the throne. Joan of Arc had requested this, as she felt that taxes exploited her villagers. Moreover, Charles wished to do a good deed for her successful efforts in fighting the English during the Hundred Years' War. However after the French Revolution DomrŽmy was required to pay taxes.
