| | | | The pictures below show larger side and top views of this Unusual Small Old Lion Animal Shaped Glazed Porcelain Cigarette Ash Tray. The bottom is blank and unglazed white. The personal ashtray is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1920s or the 1930s. It is marked “JAPAN” on the base, but the maker is unknown. The ashtray is glazed in blue, gold, green, dark red, and black on the eyes. The lion ashtray looks very much like European Cubism Art that was very popular at the early 20th Century to the 1920s. The blue diamond shape on top has one holder for a cigarette, but it couldn’t really hold or balance it there. The lion ashtray measures about 3-1/2'' x 2-3/8'' x 1-1/4''. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured. There is a small hole on the right front leg that is from the manufacturing. |
