The picture shows the front and back of this World War II Asiatic - Pacific Theater Commemorative Metal Plate. This plate originally came inside a cased or boxed Colt World War II Asiatic-Pacific Theater Commemorative Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol. It was a .45 ACP caliber pistol with a 5 inch barrel. It had a Nickel-plated finish with commemorative legend. Exotic hardwood grips with Rampant Colt medallions. Contained with the gun were six nickel-plated dummy cartridges. It was in a green velvet lined bamboo motif maple case with glazed top and lockable drawer.

Please note that the metal plate ONLY is being offered here. The boxed gun image is only shown for reference. There is no gun available. This metal plate was found with a half dozen more wrapped in tissue paper from an estate clean out.

The plate is made of a non magnetic metal. It may be nickel, but I do not know for sure. It is heavy for its size weighting 3.3 ounces. The back appears to be made for engraving. It has an ornate border on both sides and on the front is marked as follows:

WORLD WAR II
COMMEMORATIVE
Asiatic - Pacific Theater
December 7, 1941 - September 2, 1945

The metal plate measures 3" x 1-3/4". It is in mint as made condition.
