(5) Small Old Porcelain Butter Pat Plates
Porcelain   Butter   Dairy   Butter Pat   Plate   Dish   Miniature   Kitchen   Doll   Victorian   England   English   Great Britain   British   Dinnerware   Antique
The pictures show a top and bottom view of all (5) Small Old Porcelain Butter Pat Plates in this lot. There are two that have a similar pattern and three other different ones here. These are not dated but they are old. Most butter pat plates had been used in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Butter pats were usually part of a large china or dinnerware set. They were used at a time when store bought butter did not exist. Butter would be molded and stamped with a design and placed on these small individual serving plates. Between the thousands of designs that were made and their small size they have become an excellent collectible item. They also make a nice size plate for Victorian dolls.

All of these plates are round. Each of these have a pattern or print and gold trim. To judge the sizes the top right one measure about 3-3/8'' wide. These appear to be in good to very good condition as pictured. They have some age crazing and some wear. One of these has some cloth tape on the back with numbers and words. One has the number ''7933'' and two are marked as follows:

(crown)
JOHN MADDOCK & SONS
ROYAL VITREOUS
ENGLAND
