The picture below shows a larger view of this Checkers Pop Corn Confection Advertising Lithographed Tin Spinner Top Toy Prize. This may be a prize that came in a box of Checkers but it appears so nice that it may be a newer reproduction. Checkers was a popcorn and peanut confection similar to Cracker Jack with a toy prize. The product was a competitor owned by The Shotwell Manufacturing Company and purchased by The Cracker Jack Company in 1926. The top pictures a 5 cent box of Checkers, and there is a checkerboard pattern all around the edge. There is a round wooden post or peg in the center. There is a poem imprinted on it that reads:
HAPPY LITTLE SPINNING TOP. ROUND THE TABLE CREEPING. SPIN AWAY UNTIL YOU DROP THEN I’LL KNOW YOU’RE SLEEPING.
The spinner top measures about 1-1/2'' wide. It appears to be in mint condition with wear as pictured.
