The picture shows a view of this Old Smyrna Yacht Club Bullion Blazer Emblem Patch Badge. The badge is not dated but it is believed to be old. We do not know to whom it had belonged. It has a black velvet background with a red embroidered Smyrna Yacht Club pennant or flag. The wording and outlines appear to be made of silver or gold threads. On the back are three embedded pins with their back sections included. This badge would be worn on the breast of a blazer jacket. It is marked as follows:

SMYRNA
YACHT CLUB

The bullion blazer emblem badge measures about 2-15/16'' wide. It appears to be in mint condition as pictured. Below here, for reference is some information found on the Smyrna Yacht Club:

Smyrna Yacht Club in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. It is a private company categorized under Boating Club, Membership. It was established in 1928 and incorporated in Florida.

Located on the beautiful Indian River and only a short distance from Ponce de Leon Inlet, Smyrna Yacht Club is in an ideal location for yachting of all types. Members participate in a wide variety of boating activities such as competitive ocean racing, racing Precision 15 sailboats on the river, sports fishing, leisure cruising, or just enjoying their yacht at the dock.

Illustrious History of the Lipton Cup:

The first International Regatta sponsored by the Smyrna Yacht Club was held in 1932 for both sail and powerboats. In those days, the SYC regattas would draw spectators from 20,000 to 60,000. They came from all over the United States and Europe. Notable at many of these events were the Baron Von Rothschild, and the undisputed king of unlimited hydroplane racing, Gar Wood. Racing at SYC continued through the 1930's, as the event sponsored by SYC gained worldwide acclaim.

Sir Thomas Lipton is famous for his many America's Cup Challenges with his famous ''J boats''. As a yacht racing enthusiast, Sir Lipton encouraged the sport by giving a number of prestigious trophies to yacht clubs around the world. In 1922, he donated a beautiful sterling cup to perpetuate the sport of yacht racing in the Central Florida area. The history of this cup is shrouded in mystery up until 1941, at the beginning of World War II, when the cup was placed in a bank vault for safety and forgotten until 1982. At that time, having sponsored International Lipton Cup regattas in the early 1930s, SYC adopted the cup in order to preserve the tradition. The trophy has resided in the trophy case at the SYC in a place of honor for over twenty years. Sir Thomas Lipton's Cup has banded SYC in a single effort to continuously stage a first class regatta, open to all those who wish to share the significance of the event.
