The pictures show views of the (2) Different Unused 1930 Sliced Bread Advertising Ad Mat Molds in this lot. The ad mats are dated April 1930. Long ago, bread was sold in stores and bakeries unsliced. These admats are from those days in History when bread began being sold sliced and ready to use for sandwiches.

These are molds in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on a wooden block for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this. The ad mats are like a miniature 3-D posters. They could be painted or they would look nice framed, or you could still use them to make print blocks from. The print block would have been used to print in newspapers, in magazines, or on other paper forms of advertising. They are made of a thick compressed paper board. In the order pictured, these admat molds are marked as follows:

(#1)
(pictures a knife crossed out, a loaf of sliced bread and three pictures of someone opening a loaf of bread, taking out the slices they need and closing the packaging again)
PRE - SLICED BREAD
DISGARD THE KNIFE FOR LIFE
NOW
READY TO SERVE
81 - APR - 30

(#2)
(pictures a loaf of sliced bread and an antique toaster)
PRE - SLICED BREAD
FOR TOAST
READY TO SERVE
83 - APR - 30

These ad mats are different in size. The first one measures about 6-1/2'' x 9-3/4'' and the second one measures about 4-3/4'' x 7''. They appear to be in mint unused condition as pictured.
