Old Copper & Wood Kitchen Plaque / Note Holder
Folk Art   Kitchen   Kitsch   Vegetable   Character   Food. Cook   Cooking. Recipe   Plaque   Copper   Novelty
The picture shows this Old Copper & Wood Kitchen Plaque. This is an unusual and unique item. There is a figure at the top that appears to be a squash or gourd character. He is wearing a chef hat, holding a cook book in one hand and a spoon in the other. The figure is made of hand hammered or pressed copper. It was then painted. There are nails all around applying it to the green stained wooden plaque. There is a copper strip below the figure. This I believe was used to hold either a recipe, grocery list or a note pad. I don't know whether to call this kitsch, folk art, a craft, or kitchen art. I do not know when it was made, but if I were to guess, I would guess the 1950's. It measures 7-3/8" x 12-7/8". It is in excellent+ condition with just little paint scratches.
