| The pictures below show six larger views of this Old Wooden Victorian Scene Musical Jewelry Box. The musical jewelry box is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1940s or 1950s. It is not marked and the maker is unknown. The wind up mechanical music device inside is marked “REUGE - STE CROIX – SWITZERLAND”. The key on the bottom winds well and the music plays beautifully when the hinged lid is opened. It stops when the lid is closed. Unfortunately we can not name the tune or title. The inside is velvet lined and the bottom opens to the music compartment. The lid has a great scene of a Victorian man and lady in front of a fireplace. He has removed his sword and they are holding hands. They are fancy dressed, he in a kilt suit and she in a gown dress, a jacket and a hat. There are pewter items on the fire place mantle. The top of the lid has the scenic image. The underside of the lid and the bottom have woodgrain. All around the sides the jewelry box is black lacquer. The jewelry box measures about 6'' x 3-5/8'' x 5-3/8''. It appears to be in excellent used condition with some light wear from use as pictured. The image on top and the lacquered finish have some age crazing. |
