| | | The picture shows a view of all (7) Matching Small Old Porcelain Butter Pat Plates in this lot. These are not dated but they are old. Most butter pat plates had been used in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Butter pats were usually part of a large china or dinnerware set. They were used at a time when store bought butter did not exist. Butter would be molded and stamped with a design and placed on these small individual serving plates. Between the thousands of designs that were made and their small size they have become an excellent collectible item. They also make a nice size plate for Victorian dolls. These plates are square. They have a brown border design, flowers and leaves. They are not marked and the maker is unknown. They measure about 2-3/4'' wide. These appear to be in near mint to mint condition as pictured. |
