| | | | The picture shows an inside and outside view of this Old Hinged Metal Match Safe or Match Pack Holder. The year that this holder was made is unknown but it is old. It appears to be made of brass or gold but on the inside it is marked ''NS SILVER PLATED''. There is no makers name. There are diamond shaped areas for engraving inside and out. These are lightly engraved ''LB''. Also engraved on the inside is ''ALTON, N.H.''. The holder is well used and an area inside (top right in the picture) was used as a striker and is blackened. The case will hold either wooden matches or a normal sized match pack. There is a button to push to open the case and a loop within the hinge to hang as a charm or watch fob. Closed it measures 1-5/8'' x 2-1/4''. Over all it is in fair to good condition with wear and the blackened area inside. |
