| | | The picture shows a front and back view of this 1941 State of Vermont Sesquicentennial Commemorative Medal Coin. This coin was made by the Whitehead & Hoag Company of Newark, New Jersey. On the front or obverse of this coin is the first Governor of Vermont and on the back or reverse is the Vermont State Seal from the State Flag which has a wreath with a pine tree, cow, hay stacks deer head, and the state motto on a banner. It is marked on the two sides as follows: THOMAS CHITTENDEN FIRST GOVERNOR OF VERMONT SESQUI-CENTENNIAL OF THE STATEHOOD OF VERMONT 1791 - 1941 VERMONT FREEDOM AND UNITY W. & H. CO. The coin measures 1-1/4'' wide. It appears to be in fair condition with wear and a hole at the top to hang as a medallion, pendant, or charm as pictured. |
