The picture shows two views of this 1961 Lays - Fritos Full Page Color Newspaper Advertisement. This is a fabulous large advertisement for a Lay's Potato Chip and Fritos Corn Chip plant opening. It anounces the opening of Washington's Largest and most modern potato chip and Fritos Plant. The (then) new factory is pictured at the top in full color. The sign on the plant pictures a Potato Head Character named "Oscar" and reads: "LAY'S POTATO CHIPS - FRITOS".The ad as well as one of the bags pictured has this "Oscar" potato character. A Lay's "Twins" potato chip bag is pictured in color as well as an old "King Size" Fritos bag. Another great feature of this ad is the fact that it also offers a spring activated premium / prize space ship. Three of them are pictured in color as well as instructions for flying it or using it as a spinning top. This full page ad is attached to the front page of the newspaper. The paper is "THE EVENING STAR" of Washington. The paper is dated January 19, 1961. For reference some of the headlines read: "Map Of Parade Route And Detailed Line Of March", "4 Inch Inaugural Snow Forecast", "Kennedy Gets Final Briefing By Eisenhower", "Nixon Wants To Shape Middle Road G.O.P.", and more... The advertisement measures 15" x 24". It is in excellent condition. It is shown shrink wrapped on cardboard, but it can be easily unwrapped, matted and framed. |
