The picture below shows a larger view of all (3) Different Old Catholic or Christian Children's Illustrated Religious Story Books in this lot. One of these books is dated and the other two are believed to be from the late 1800s or early 1900s. They were found together. In the order pictured, the first book is titled “Stories For The Children's Hour”. It has (48) pages of children's religious stories and they are illustrated in black & white. There are two advertisements inside. One is for “Gospel Stationery” and the other is for different types of Bibles. Both were from The Metropolitan Church Association of Waukesha, Wisconsin. The second book is titled “Bible Lore Wonder – Working Jesus”. It is ©1891 by American Baptist Publication Society. It has “Seven Bible Stories From Stories About Jesus”. The (34) page book is by Reverend C. R. Blackall and Mrs. Emily L. Blackall. It was published in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by the American Baptist Publication Society. There are engraving plate illustrations throughout in black & white and several images in color. In the front there is a neatly written name and the date April 1897. It was probably given as a gift at that time. The third book included here is titled “Bible Children”. This (12) page book or booklet was by Ernest Nister of London. It was published by E. P. Dutton & Company of New York, and it was printed in Bavaria. The booklet has (4) colorful plate pages, and several brown illustrations. It is marked on the two sides as follows: All three of these for one price! To judge the sizes the center book measures 7-1/4'' x 9-3/8''. These appear to be in fair to good used condition. They have some over all wear from handling all these years by children as pictured. The center book has binding edge wear and the cover is coming loose. |
