There are four pictures showing a view of all (11) 1935 Charms Candy Glass Negative Printing Plates With Storage Box & Ad in this lot. The first picture shows a closer view of one of the glass plates. The second and third pictures show all of the glass plates. The third picture also shows part of their original storage box that held these. The fourth picture shows an included 1937 magazine color advertisement with similar Charms Candy wrappers. These glass plates or negatives were used in the printing of the wrappers for CHARMS Candies by The Walter M. Lowney Company Ltd. of Montreal, Canada. This was under contract with CHARMS Co. of Newark, New Jersey. They are numbered and dated 6-18-35. The name D. Green is on them as well. That may have been the maker of these, I am not sure. The labels on each of these glass plates are different. The full label plates have the following candy flavors: BUTTER CHARMS RASPBERRY CHARMS CRYSTAL MINTS CHARMS LEMON CHARMS ASSORTED CHARMS ORANGE CHARMS LIME CHARMS (blank) CHARMS (with candies) There are three additional plates with the candy sections. One of these plates was used over an ASSORTED CHARMS plate. The last two are color plates for the candy section of the LEMON CHARMS. Pictured is a section of the original storage box for these. Inside the box is a stack of various papers and envelopes from these. The buyer will receive each of the glass plates in hard plastic holder. Also included (picture #4) as stated above is an original magazine advertisement from 1937 picturing the candies. The glass plates vary slightly in size, they measure around 8-3/4" x 5". They also vary in condition as well. The concern for these is not what is outside the label area. The quality of the printed label area itself are excellent and is really all that mattered. One has a corner missing, but again it is outside the area to be printed. The ad has some wrinkling, but is bright and clean. It is also mounted on a card stock backing. |
