The picture shows the covers of all (6) 1945 - 1947 Advertising Calendar Booklets in this lot. These were made by Brown & Bigelow of St. Paul Minnesota. The first two have nice color images and the other four have sepiatone images. These images look like a miniature poster or trading card art especially the first two. Each of these has a different set of monthly pages (see below). There are some blank perforated pages in the back of each. These were used as a post World War II advertising premium. The advertising section on each of these reads as follows: MACWHYTE COMPANY KENOSHA, WISCONSIN MANUFACTURERS OF WIRE, WIRE ROPE AND BRAIDED SLINGS AIRCRAFT CABLE, TERMINALS AND TIE RODS The first booklet is for the month of July 1945 and it has a full 1945 calendar on the inside cover. Within a rope border it has an image of a man on trial in a western court with cowboy characters around. Within the image it reads: "ROY BEAN LAW WEST OF THE PECOS" and below: "IMPARTIAL JUDGES". The second booklet is for the month of August 1945 and it has a full 1945 calendar on the inside cover. Within a rope border it has an image of American Fur Trappers in a canoe. Within the image it reads: "TRAPPERS LEAVE FT. UNION" and below: "A SOURCE OF SUPPLY". The third booklet is for the month of March 1946 and it has a full 1946 calendar on the inside cover. It has an image of a man sitting with his horse behind him. The original was an etching and the Artist name is R. H. Palenske. This artwork is entitled: "MAN'S FRIEND". The fourth booklet is for the month of April 1946 and it has a full 1946 calendar on the inside cover. It has an image of a sea gulls with waves crashing on a rocky shoreline. The original was an etching and the Artist name is R. H. Palenske. This artwork is entitled: "GULLS AT MONTEREY". The fifth booklet is for the month of May 1947 and it has a full 1947 calendar on the inside cover. It has an image of men on horseback with dogs running. This may be a fox hunt scene. The original was an etching and the Artist name is R. H. Palenske. This artwork is entitled: "UP 'N OVER". The sixth booklet is for the month of July 1946 and it has a full 1946 calendar on the inside cover. It has an image of two Northwest Mounties in a canoe on a raging river. The original was an etching and the Artist name is R. H. Palenske. This artwork is entitled: "THE WATER TRAIL". All of these for one price! These booklets measure 3-1/4" x 6". These are all unused and are in near mint to mint condition. |
