The picture shows all (3) Beautiful Old French Advertising Trade Cards With Children & Toys in this lot. These were made in Paris, France and all three are very detailed and colorful. The gold background is actually a shiny gold but the scans don't show it. The first one picures three children playing with an early toy steam train. The boy is dressed in what appears to be a conductor uniform. He is blowing a horn. The girl to the right is fancily dressed and holding a small bag and a ticket. (I think she should wait for a bigger train to arrive.haha!). The girl on the floor seems to be operating the train. There is also a sign in the center and a nice early fancy toy train staion. This is a great image! At the bottom it reads in French: VOYAGEURS, EN VOITURE! The second one is equally as nice! It pictures again three children playing. The boy is in a military uniform and he is lighting an early toy cannon as the two girls watch. Pictured also are three early military toys, two of which are pull / push toys on wheels. The bases can be seen. The other is a soldier with a gun. At the bottom it reads in French: CULBUTONS L'ENNEMI. The Third has an image of five children playing outside and getting caught in the rain. It has a shiny gold border and at the bottom reads: MARS. All three of these have the same food advertising on the back. They tell you to ask your grocer for the following Imported French Goods: HENRI MARCELLENI'S DRAGON BRAND Macaroni Spaguetti Vermecilli and Paste GEORGE CADEAU & Cie. French Peas Mushrooms Haricots verts Flagolets Macedoines Sardines Truffes Prunes and VICTOR PANET'S PURE OLIVE OIL The advertising trade cards are not dated but believed to be from the 1800's to the early 1900's. The cards each measure 3-7/8" x 2-1/2" and they are in near mint condition. |
