The metal buttonhook is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1800s or early 1900s. This is a tool to button buttons on vintage or antique shoes or clothing. It was most likely given out to a customer with a purchase to advertise the company and their shoes. The buttonhook is made of steel and it is marked on one side as follows: KNOTH'S FINE SHOES,
