The picture shows a front and back view of all (4) World War II Military Hoodsie & Sealtest Ice Cream Cup Premium Lids in this lot. These are not dated but they are believed to be from the 1940s. Hoodsie lids also known as Dixie, at one time had different series of images such as these military ones as well as movie stars and cowboy heroes. You could have mailed in a number of these (in this case 12) lids and receive in the mail a larger premium picture. One of these is from Sealtest Fro-Joy Vanilla Chocolate ice cream from Portland, Maine. The other three are from Hood's Ice Cream manufactured by H. P. Hood & Sons of Auburn, Maine. As pictured, from left to right these are marked as follows: ETHIOPIA - IRAN - IRAQ ''UNITED NATIONS AT WAR'' TROOPS AND OIL FOR THE FIGHTING FRONTS NORWAY ''UNITED NATIONS AT WAR'' AIR AND NAVAL UNITS PROTECT CONVOY AMERICA'S FIGHTING FORCES THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS AMERICA'S FIGHTING FORCES BOMBARDMENT PLANES B-26's The lids each measure 2-1/4'' wide. They are in good condition with soiling as pictured. |
