This card is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1800s. It appears to be a Victorian trade card but there is no advertising on it. It pictures two boy children dressed in military uniform costumes. They are in chairs passed out from drinking, with the feathers from their hats on fire from the candle. It is marked below them in French as follows: ! __ UN SOMMEIL DANGEREUX.
(a translation) “A Dangerous Sleep.” The trade card measures 4-1/16'' x 2-1/2''. It appears to be in good condition with spotting on the back as pictured. The spots are probably from being in a scrap book or album at one time. |
