The picture shows a view of this Old National Biscuit Company Country Store Hinged Glass & Metal Advertising Container Cover. Also shown is some embossed wording from on the edge. This is a cover that would fit over a large tin, crate, or box of crackers or cookies so that a customer could buy only some or in bulk instead of buying a pre-packaged item. When it was made is unknown, but it does have a 1923 patent date on the side. It was most likely used near that year. The cover is hinged and the top frame portion with glass opens. The cover is made of a chromed non magnetic metal. It has the original glass and the original lithographed tin sign. The cover has the old National Biscuit Company logo in three places and it is marked as follows: UNEEDA BAKERS NBC UNEEDA TRADE MARK NATIONAL BISCUIT COMPANY PROPERTY OF NATIONAL BISCUIT COMPANY ''UNEEDA BAKERS'' PATENTED MARCH 13, 1923 This cover measures 10-1/2'' x 10-1/2'' x 1-5/8''. It could use a good cleaning but it is in excellent condition as pictured with some light wear from use. |
