The pictures show views of this Large Old Lowneys Candy Advertising Display Booth Photograph. The first picture shows the entire photograph. The second picture shows a little closer view of the back wall filled with advertising signs, candy boxes, and tins. This early photograph is believed to be from either the 1893 Chicago Columbian Exposition World's Fair, or the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. The Walter M. Lowney Company had factories in Boston, Massachusetts, Chicago, Illinois, and Montreal, Canada. This photograph is mounted on a thick cardboard backing board. It pictures a fancy advertising booth filled with many signs, posters, candy packages, candy bars, candy, and cocoa tins, a coffee machine (?), an old cash register, three young ladies in dresses, and a man in a suit and derby hat. The back has a very faint ink stamping, probably from the Photographer. The only words that we can make out is ''Halifax, N.S.''. The photograph measures 8-1/2'' x 6-5/8'' The backing board is slightly larger. The photo is in excellent condition as pictured. The backing board has edge and corner wear. There is a diagonal crack in the upper left corner area but it is still very much intact. |
