The picture shows a front and back view of this RARE United States Lincoln / Wheat Cent Capped Die Error. This is probably one of the most fascinating error coins I've seen yet. Apparently the collar around the die was either broken or missing when this was minted. The metal was squeezed out. Amazingly both sides of this coin are very clearly minted as can be pictured. Because of the bowl or cap shape this penny is 1/4" high! The date on this cent is believed to be 1957. Only the top left of the seven can be seen. The "IN GOD WE TRUST" appears as rays on the flat metal section. If you are a collector of error coins, this one is a MUST to have! Also, because I am not a professional grader, and since conditions are subjective, I will not attempt to grade these coins. You will need to judge the condition by the clear obverse and reverse images. This error penny measures 1" wide instead of 3/4" and 1/4" tall instead of 1/16". |
