The pencil is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1800s or early 1900s. It is similar to an old bullet pencil. It was made in Germany. There is an imprinted celluloid wrap around a metal case. The pencil is flat wood and it has a metal end piece that fits into the case each way. When in use the pencil end fits into the case.
