The picture shows this Old Boxed Set Of Fortune Telling Cake Favors. Shown are the (15) included favors, two sides of the box and the fortune / instruction sheet. These were actually meant to be baked inside a cake and when sliced it the charm you received told your fortune. It is hard to believe that anyone today would use these as they were intended. On one side the box pictures a cake. The other side has what appears to be the prizes in a bowl with attached strings. On one side it is marked "FAVOR CAKE SET OR FORTUNE TELLING SET - 15 PIECES" and the other side says "FORTUNE TELLING SET OR FAVOR CAKE SET - 15 PIECES"There are (2) prizes pictured on each edge side. The box pictures a total of (8) prizes. With the exception of the safety pin and the buttons, the prizes are all made of lead or pot metal. These old lead prizes were made by the Dowst / Tootsitoy Company of Chicago and are the exact same ones that were used as prizes in 1910's to 1930's Cracker Jack boxes. The toys and fortunes included in this lot don’t match exactly. The (15) included are as follows: Frying Pan Scoop Wedding Band Ring Purse Clothes Iron High Heeled Shoe "For A Good Girl" Sewing Thimble Smoking Pipe With Horse Navy Battleship Metal Button Silver Button Safety Pin Doll or Girl Stud Lapel Button "Key To My Heart" Charm Engagement Ring To judge the sizes the box measures 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" x 3/4". The toy prizes are in excellent or better condition. The box is excellent with one end flap separated and two small inner flaps gone. There is also a $45 price written in pencil on one side. |
