| The pictures show inside and outside view of this Old Catholic or Christian Religious Prayer Wallet with Crucifix & Medallion. It is not dated but it is old. This tan cloth wallet has several items inside. It has a framed Crucifix, a medallion, a filled out certificate, and a two sided prayer card inside. It was for a man from Dorchester, Massachusetts. It has his name and address. Our guess is that a Catholic would carry this with them in case of an accident, if they had poor health, a dangerous occupation or job, or a military Serviceman. The ID card has a (48) star American flag. It reads ''IN CASE OF ACCIDENT OR SEVERE ILLNESS NOTIFY NEAREST CATHOLIC PRIEST.''. The prayer card has ''THE LORD'S PRAYER'', ''AN ACT OF CONTRITION'', and ''PRAYER BEFORE A CRUCIFIX''. There is a framed metal Crucifix. The frame is embossed with a design all around. At the bottom is an attached gold colored metal (brass ?) medallion. On the front is Jesus Christ and on the back is the Virgin Mary holding a crowned baby Jesus. It is marked: ''SACRED HEART OF JESUS HAVE MERCY ON US''. The wallet has a metal snap to close it. To judge the sizes the opened prayer wallet measures 7-3/8'' x 4-1/2''. It appears to be in fair to good used condition as pictured. There is over all wear and dirt. The prayer card has wear from the crucifix and medal. The inside material which is probably cardboard has wrinkling (see the last picture below). |
