| | | | The picture below shows a larger view of the (2) Different Colorful Old French Sailor Boy Advertising Trade Cards in this lot. We aren’t sure what these were to be advertising (luggage ?), but they are nice looking cards. The two boys are dressed in Cracker Jack type dress blues Sailor uniforms and hats. They have leather luggage, and look as though they will be boarding the sailing ships behind them. One is holding two cases and an umbrella, and the other has a pocket watch, chain, and a cane or walking stick. Their hats appear to be marked “J.M.F.”. The cards are blank on the baks, and are marked on the fronts as follows: JEAN MARIE MATHURIN FIFERAIN
QUITTE LE PLANGHER DES VACHES RENTRONS CHEZ NOUS. Both cards for one price! The cards each measure about 2-13/16'' x 4-1/8''. They appear to be in good condition as pictured. The left one looks like it had a word written on it that is partially erased. The backs have some paper loss. It looks like they had been removed from a scrap book or album. |
