| The pictures below show nine larger views of this Old Maine State Prison Inmate Made Wooden Craft Jewelry or Trinket Box. The box is not dated and the year that it was made is unknown. It appears to be hand crafted of wood, and covered in patterns of wooden match sticks. It is coated in a varnish and it is cloth lined. The bottom has a thin green felt, or a soft paper, and it is marked with a stamping on the bottom as follows: MADE BY INMATE
MAINE STATE PRISON The jewelry, trinket, or stash box measures about 4-3/8'' x 3-1/2'' x 2-3/4''. It appears to be in good condition as pictured. If you look at picture #4 you will see that several small matchstick pieces had come off. These can be easily replaced. |
