| | | The pictures show different views of this Old Miniature Wooden Oval Shaker Trinket Box. Shown are the sides, the outside of the top and bottom, and the inside of both as well. The box is not dated but it is old. It was found hidden in the back of a drawer in an early sewing machine. When found, the box was was filled with old religious medals and charms. The cover of the box has an image of a cross that was either inked on or lightly burnt into the wood. We can not tell which without damaging it. It was found in rural New Hampshire and we believe that it was made by a Shaker at the near by Canterbury Shaker Village. The village was established over 200 years ago in 1792. Other than the cross, the wooden box is not marked. It is smooth and it looks like it is made of maple wood. The box measures 2-9/16'' x 1-7/8'' x 1-1/8''. It appears to be in excellent or better condition as pictured. |
