| | | The picture shows a view of the (2) Unused 1956 Rodan The Flying Monster Movie Ad Mat Molds in this lot. The two are still connected. The ad mats are not dated but they are from the 1956 movie. These are molds in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that are then mounted on wooden blocks for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this. The ad mats are like miniature 3-D posters and would look nice framed, or you could still use them and make print blocks. The print blocks would have been used to print on movie pages in newspapers, in magazines, or in the movie theater programs. It is made of a thick compressed paper board. The bottom admat has a movie scene image of the Creature Rodan flying with jet airplanes and Soldiers attacking it. The top one also pictures the moster and it has the advertising for the movie. It is marked as follows: THUNDERING OUT OF UNKNOWN SKIES - THE SUPERSONIC HELL CREATURE NO WEAPON COULD DESTROY! ''RODAN!'' THE FLYING MONSTER PRINT BY TECHNICOLOR THEATRE The ad mats together measure about 4-3/8'' x 6-3/4''. They are in mint unused condition as pictured.
