| | | | The picture below shows three larger views of this Small Old Dressed Black Mammy Character Figure Dinner or Convalescent Bell. This bell is not dated but it is old. It is not marked and the maker is unknown. The bell is metal with a black wooden handle. It has a painted face and it is wearing a dress, a matching cloth hat, and it has black felt hands. We believe that this bell is for either calling people to the dinner table or for a bed ridden person to call for a servant. Including the hat, the Mammy bell figure measures about 4-1/4'' tall. It appears to be in good condition as pictured. The dress could probably use a cleaning and there is a little wear on the metal bell. |
