| | | | The picture shows the covers of all (4) ©1958 "Metropolitan Seminars In Art" Books in this lot. These were by John Canaday. Inside of these books is an envelope attatched to the cover that hold beautiful color plate prints of famous art works. There are a total of (38) Color Plate Art Prints included here. Not all of the prints that originally came with these book are present. My guess is that they were framed and left hanging somewhere. There is some additional paperwork in these, such as review questions and a preview of the next portfolio. I do not know how many books were part of this series, but included here are the following four books: Portfolio 1 - What Is A Painting? Portfolio 2 - Realism
Portfolio 4 - Abstraction
Portfolio 5 - Composition As Pattern The books each measure 10" x 13" and each of the (38) color prints measure 9-3/8" x 12-3/8". The books are in excellent to near mint condition and the prints appear to be in mint condition. |
