It is believed to be from the 1930s or 1940s. It could have also been a mail away premium as well. They were designed by Sam Berman and produced by the LePere Pottery Company of Zanesville, Ohio. It is a figurine bank in the shape of an elephant. There is a bank like slot on top to insert your old used razor blades. The elephant could also be used as a coin savings bank. It is marked on the bottom as follows: FREE WITH LISTERINE SHAVING CREAM OFFER MADE IN U.S.A. PAT. APPD. FOR The elephant measures about 3-1/4'' long by 2-1/2'' tall, small enough to keep in old medicine cabinets. It is in excellent condition with some normal age crazing of the glaze as pictured. |
